Khloe is 2!

Okay it has been a while since the last post.  Khloe is back in school and has her new eye!  This cover is just a temporary they have to get the color matched and the shape right.  We were at her appointment for over 3 hours.  It looks good.  We pick at all the little problems but it is so nice.  The other morning we went out to breakfast and a lady sitting across from us, said "Wow her eyes are so amazing."  It was so nice to hear that!  I haven't heard that in a long time, and for a while, I wasn't sure I would ever hear that again.  Khloe is looking beautiful!  She is so full of life and love.  We are going to go and make some animals at build-a-bear with her cousins.  I am so excited for what this next year will bring and so blessed to be her mama!

Here is Khloe as we were leaving the doctors office, so pretty!

Khloe is doing GREAT!!!

A lot has happened since my last post.  Khloe has had her MRI and it came back clear, no tumors.  There was a spot the doctors were worried about but upon closer observation, she is fine.  Dr. Murphree even put a conformer in and it has stayed in!  She can go and see the Ocularist and hopefully get her eye by her birthday.  She is doing great she can go back to school.  We aren't done yet.  She goes into her oncology doctor once a month and every 3 months she will get an MRI to check for tumors.  She also will have an observation under sedation so they can look at her good eye and check her bad eye until she is 2 and a half they are concerned about the retinalblastoma effecting her good eye.  After a year she will then get MRI's every 6 months.  Thank you all for the prayers, and I will keep you informed of her progress.  Love you!

In the hospital again!

Well, I brought Khloe to the hospital in LA on Saturday for a blood transfusion.  While we were waiting for the blood, Khloe felt warn to me and when the nurse checked her temperature, she had a fever of 103.5.  So she was admitted to the hospital.  Khloe's blood wasn't ready until 6 and when they started giving her her blood she had a reaction.  Her blood pressure dropped and her heart rate soared.  They had to stop her blood and give her multiple rounds of medication to help her stabilize again.  After 12 hours, they checked her blood levels again, they had dropped down to 3.74 this is an extremely low blood level.  This means she barely had enough blood in her body to function.  On Sunday she received blood for twelve hours to help bring her counts back up.  Today she is doing better, she is getting blood again now and has started eating bites of items.  Please pray for her body to stay strong and recover quickly.

last chemo!!

We were admitted to the hospital yesterday for her last cycle of chemo.  We are hoping and praying we are done soon.  Khloe is awake and doing well this morning.  She has an apt. set for Nov 9 for an MRI and a visit with her dr.  We are hopefull and praying everything is gone and no more tumors will be seen on that MRI.  She won't be done with the doctors.  She will see the dr who did her prostetic, the eye dr, her oncology dr and an ocular dr probably once a month for the next six months, then most of them will be less.  She will also get an MRI every 3 months for the next year then every six months for the following year.  There is light at the end of the tunnel and we are looking forward to the end of these long hospital stays.  This entire experience has brought us closer, thank you all for your love and support.  Love you all!

Blood Drive

My mom and Diane Shott are setting up a blood drive in Nuevo for Khloe and another girl in town that has cancer.  The blood drive is on Sunday Oct 10 from 10-2.  Anyone is invited the more the better.  I am really excited and astounded at the response to the blood drive after just one day.  God is so amazing!

Khloe went back to her eye doctor today.  They schedualed her next and hopefully last surgery for Sept 25 @ 7:30 am.  We are praying she will be done with eye surgeries after this.  They will take some skin from her mouth and add it to her lower eye lid inside and check the placement of her prostetic and then sew her eye lids closed.  Her eye will be stiched closed for a month after surgery so the eye can heal with the conformer in there.  Because the conformer won't stay in, there will be no room for her cover, the part that will match her other eye.  She is still doing well.  We are just praying the fever stays away and she keeps feeling well.  Thank you all for your prayers!

Khloe is doing better than yesterday!  All she did, all day long yesterday was sleep.  Please pray that she doesn't get a fever and she stays well until her next eye surgery which should be the end of this month.

Khloe isn't doing very well today.  She has a fever still and is sick and not eating.  Please pray that she starts to feel better and her body handles this last round of chemo well.  She looks tired and has just been sleeping today.  It is hard to see her like this because she usually does so good with chemo.

Hello Everyone

Ok so here is a little blog to help keep everyone tuned in and up to date on Khloe and how she is doing.  First let me start when it all happened.  Khloe was not feeling well and Damion looked at her and said "mom her eye is black."  After 2 days of little sleep, I freaked out and we went to the ER.  They said it was pink eye go home it will get better.  Days later, when her eye was not looking any better, I took her to her doctor and an optimologist, he referred me to a different Dr the same day who then tried to get us in to a specialist later that day.  What I thought was nothing turned out to be cancer.  We didn't know it yet, no one did.  So we spent the next week at different doctor's office while they looked at her.  Most of them looked and said "she needs to see a specialist," or "Are you sure there was no trauma."  When they finally did an ultrasound on her eye they saw it was full of blood.  She was admitted to the hospital for surgery and an MRI.  A biopsy was done, which wasn't what should have happened.  Then we waited and waited, still not knowing what was going on we knew there was a tumor at the back of her eye.  Along with the tumor, her retina, the whole back part of the eye was detached and the lens(at the front of the eye) had also detached and the tumor had started growing around it.  Her eye was black because it was full of blood.  Her blood vessels had somehow started bleeding into the eye.  In May on her dad's birthday, she had her left eye removed.  2 weeks later they had biopsied the eye and determined it to be cancer.  In June we met with her oncology doctor at Children's Hospital LA.  We were told that because of the size of the tumor and the biopsy she would have to undergo extensive chemotherapy.

Now we sit here in the hospital at what we hope is one of her last rounds of chemo.  We are praying that after this round she only has one more to go.  We have unfortunately had to come back to the hospital a week or week and a half after chemo for a fever.  She seems to be handling her chemo well.  This time she is tired and has a fever.  Please pray that her fever will go away and we will be able to go home soon.  She will start her next session of chemo tonight.  Khloe has 4 different chemo medicines she gets over a 3 night period.  I will keep you updated and thank you for the prayers!
